Decided to go there before I went to symphony for my birthday. I read the big critiken and was so excited, unfortunately was very disappointed about the food and service. the eating had no taste and the server simply went through the movements. I read how it was scenic and great neighboring place. in any case, this mood did not get. the linguine with mush was dry without broth. I had to add lemon, oil, salt. everything to have a taste. fish was fresh but had no season. no I will not recommend this place and I'm sorry I chose it for my birthday. I said the person on the phone, it was my birthday when I made the reservation, but no mention of it when I arrived. the waiter wasn't friendly and didn't even tell me the specials until I asked. he said to the table next to me, but just came to my table and said: ready to order?
The best real Italian food we ever had in the states. the owner is a very nice person, he had many good stories to tell. we felt very welcome and enjoyed eating and the Italian wine for a price for perfect quality of freshly prepared pasta and appetizers. if we were living in houston, this place would be our Italian restaurant.
Only wow! I can't believe I've never been in this restaurant, so much I love authentic Italian cuisine. the eating here brought me back to the island capri and the service reminded me of the beautiful people I met in italy. victorio was so welcoming and hospitable. it felt like we were going to visit a friend at work. everything was amazingly delicious. we had the lasagne (the best I've ever had) and the pescatorre pasta. thinner cakes are incredibly good. we have Italian cream cake and chocolate cake. I say all my friends and family about this restaurant. it's too good to keep a secret.
I have not been here in many years, and I can honestly say it was still really tasty food. The raviolis we had (2 kinds) were both delicious. The tiramisu was as the waiter said best in downtown was exceptional. Would definitely go back again. If your in Downtown do yourself a favor and eat here very low key but good quality food.
