Brasserie Max Julie - Houston

Not sure what the problem with the service was on this Friday night. we are here several times and have brought some friends to enjoy a new place. was very disappointed at the inattentiveness of the server. eating was very good, thank you so our friends were not quite disappointed. will only be returned on a week night in the future.

The woman ordered the artichoke, but it still had the manufacturer's sticker on it. We were the only customers at that moment, and it was just an ordinary dinner for her.

The food was great, but the service was slow and unstoppable.

Our dinner experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant had run out of the first three wines I selected, and two of the entrees on the menu were unavailable. Out of a dozen oysters, one was spoiled and inedible. Although our waiter offered to give us a discount on that dish, he ultimately forgot about it. My snapper special lacked flavor, and while the beef bourguignon was acceptable, it didn't stand out as anything special. The standout dish of the evening was probably the escargots, which were quite good.

I've visited Max and Julie several times before, but this last experience was disappointing. The menu was quite limited and lacked authentic French dishes. My wife ordered the trout, which honestly looked like it could have come from a cafeteria. My steak au poivre was decent, but not exceptional. The atmosphere was still nice, but overall it didn't feel like a special experience. I think they need to revamp their menu to include items that bring more excitement.
