Contribuiți la feedbackI call it a hidden gem because this was my first time here and the front door was in a little alley area and I almost walked by. This place gets busy quick on a Sunday. I went just before noon for brunch. There is a nice bar to wait or eat at or be seated in the main room. Started off with a mimosa which was good, nothing to really make it standout, but not bad. Than the deviled eggs. Now I love deviled eggs, I order them everywhere I go if they’re on the menu. These were cooked perfectly, a nice creamy consistency with the yolk. Also the herbs and espelette pepper made it the perfect one or two bites. Bonus with me is a chef that will use a piping bag for the filling. There were a lot of choices on the menu, but when the Challah French toast plate was delivered to the next table, my mind was made up. Super soft and perfectly soaked bread, not overpowered with cinnamon, bacon was crispy and eggs done properly. You can see why this is a popular dish in the menu. If you get a chance to go by, I highly suggest it. Also, Alice Blue is located in the Historic Heights area of Houston and the area is full of little shops you can walk into and explore after you eat.
I love it when places have happy hour on the weekends.Came here and ordered the deviled eggs, hummus, flautas, fried chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. The food a fab. I also ordered the Rosé from the happy hour menu which was some of the best Rosé I’ve ever had.We had a lovely server and we were checked on by the manager and hostess while we were dining. This was my first time here and I was so impressed. Looking forward to returning and trying new menu items.
Alice Blue served up the best Fried Chicken Salad that I have ever had! Unfortunately, I may never have it again there after my experience at the end of my visit. I was a first-time visitor with some friends for brunch. We had a reservation, and I was the first to arrive. When checking in I did find it strange that there was so much time taken to determine where to seat my group (party of 5) especially since I was standing in a fairly empty restaurant with seating available everywhere. Another member of my group showed up and requested seating near the windows where there was more lighting in the restaurant. I did not think any more about this until we got to the end of our time there. While we were in the process of settling our bill, a restaurant employee (unsure of role/title) came to us and said that another party with a reservation was waiting for our table. We had been there for about 1 1/2 hours and were still enjoying our conversation. I noted other customers that were there before we arrived who were done eating and had already paid but were still seated having conversation. Our group thought it was rude to ask us to leave for another party. We were unaware of any time limits and would have gladly honored them if we had been told they existed beforehand. It made us feel as though we were not valued as customers. The other party was seated elsewhere, and we were told that we were okay to stay. That is what should have been done in the first place!! We left commenting how this was a poor ending to a very good time with friends. The food and service had been great up until that point. This made me circle back to the beginning when I wondered why our initial seating was taking so long in a fairly empty restaurant. I don't know if our party of 5 was the challenge or something about our party of 5 was the challenge. I don't know, but I do know that I won't be back.
We had a very disappointing brunch with good friends. The food was good and the service was kind. However, the management is rude and abrasive. Frankly, it ruined our long awaited former book club/ sisterhood catch-up, which was about a year overdue. Needless to say, we had a lot of news to share. A few celebrations, a serious health journey, and just life in general. About an hour and a half into our visit, management tells us that they have another group that needs our table of 5 and has been waiting for us to leave. Wow! I can’t recall ever being treated that way or spoken to in that manner in my life, especially as a paying customer. I was so shocked and a little speechless because no time restrictions were mentioned when I booked the reservation and also because we were in the middle of settling the bill. I was absolutely mortified facing my invited guests. After all, I had selected this restaurant. I struggled with whether to write this review or just speak with the owner because I love supporting small businesses. I decided to go forward with the review because I rely a lot on reviews when I select where to spend my money. Although the food is good, this restaurant is not the place for a weekend girls brunch. You are going to be rushed out the door and your business is not really appreciated. If you are like me and work really hard for your income and lifestyle, then I think knowing our experience would matter to you.
Food and service were good. Burnt ends watermelon salad is a joy to taste and heartily recommended.Mains good with decent staples. All cooked to order. It was a Tuesday night so atmosphere rank at 3 isnt a poor reflection of the venue but the day of the week.If i was here longer id try a weekend night
