Waiola Shave Ice - Honolulu

I used to live in Waikele and thought the little ice car outside Lowe's was the best and saved me a trip to the North Shore. Only now I drive around McCully-Moiliili and found the Waiola street and this hole in the wall shaving ice mom / pop store. Just the best. Melt in the mouth! The Chinese ladies I've seen have this old-fashioned shave ice machine, but their blade must be super fine or their ice speciality... we get the big cup, but I think will be too small... although some kids keep the Suppa bowl all there mochi balls... the polystyrene bowl is a take-out saimin bowl! It's tradition! By far the best razor ice cream on the island. Every place that makes its own syrup and continues to use its original razor is a must. Onol

Like all the best places in Hawai'i, the dingier on the outside, the better is the food / drinks. That was amazing. I didn't even think that was the ice! Not your average shaved ice pit. That's extraordinary.

What a wonderful well needed treat after climbing Diamond Head! Loved the soft, melt in your mouth texture of the ice. Hope to go again before we leave!
