Contribuiți la feedbackFor a take-out/order place for sushi and poke, the quality of the fish couldn't be better! Each time I passed by it, there was a line so I decided to go get it a little later than there opening. The quality of the fish is perfect, including the sauces that they put on/with it.
This is a really small takeout spot, with no seating and a bit hidden. However, the fish was incredibly fresh and that really comes through the most. My wife is more about the flavourings in poke, which to be honest we’ve had better back in Canada. The thing though is at. $15 price point can you ask for fresher fish?! It was served room temperature? Which was new to us but I enjoyed it and would go back. My wife would probably give it 4 stars but I’ll leave it with a 5. We had the Hawaiian, Shoyu and Spicy mayo. I also had the uni, but to be fair that’s my first time trying uni, so I’m not sure what to compare it to.
We wanted to try poke from different places in Oahu to compare them and Maguro Brothers was one of the place highly recommended. Very fresh fish but at double the price of poke compared to Foodland. Is it worth it? Not sure. They do offer other options like sashimi, etc... but dont make the mistake of ordering the uni and scallops sashimi. I dont think its worth it as you get really tiny pieces, the uni almost melted.
This chain has two places: one in Chinatown and one in Waikiki. We tried the Waikiki location for dinner. It is a little place and only orders to go since there is no indoor seating (I saw people stood outside and eat). The restaurant only opens from 5:40 pm to 8 pm. We came around 5:30 pm and the line was short. We spent 20 minutes between waiting in line and picking up our food. We ate at the International building from the other side of the Main Street. The sashimi was so fresh and delicious. It was really amazing so we went back in line to order the second round. This time we had to wait in line longer and it took us 40 min to get our food!!! Here are my tips: 1. Come early before 5:30 pm to avoid waiting in long line 2. Pay extra for ginger as they only give a little bit with your order 3. Besides sashimi, try the poke too
This was my first poke experience when I landed. Highly rated and well worth it driving into Chinatown. My cousins and I ordered the ume shio, mix maguro donburi, chutoro shoyu and the king salmon combo with a side of uni. Wow everything here was so fresh and buttery. Prices are reasonable. The fish to rice ratio is perfect. Speaking with one of the chefs they get their ingredients locally or through Japan every other day. Its a small location located in a small indoor shopping center with plenty of other food vendors. Lines here are pretty small and they prep your food really quickly. I am really pick with my sushi. The tuna, salmon and uni were definitely fresh. My cousins and I kept talking about Maguro being our favorites. There is outdoor dining right in the center of the shopping center. Parking is limited to street or garage parking. Highly recommend this place if you want qualify poke and better cuts of fish.
