Lewers Lounge - Honolulu

On Monday and Tuesday, we were the only ones there, and the pianist and the horn player happily accommodated our song requests. I was surprised there weren't more guests on those evenings. The following day, I dressed up in slacks and a Hawaiian shirt to match the occasion, and we had a lovely romantic evening, even getting to dance by ourselves. However, the performance the next day wasn't quite as impressive.

I really wanted to love this place, especially since my parents were married at Halekulani and have always praised Lewers Lounge. My mom’s favorite drink is the strawberry basil martini, so I asked if they could make one for me. Unfortunately, the server informed me that they could only prepare a strawberry martini. All the drinks we tried were just okay. The service was surprisingly poor. Last Saturday, one of the staff members abruptly called out to my friend to get his attention instead of apologizing or being more courteous. He turned to me and asked if she really spoke to him like that. We also tried to get the staff's attention at least three times just to order another round of drinks and to ask for water. By the time we had received the menu, we had already eaten. When it came time to settle the bill, we had to ask another server (who happened to be working on February 25) for our check, and he was incredibly helpful. We wanted to tip him personally in cash, but he was very honest and said he couldn’t accept it. As for the ambience, the table we were seated at had no view of the live musicians, so we ended up choosing another table by the entrance, which wasn’t ideal. For a bill totaling around $100 for two drinks (not including tips), I expected a much better experience overall.

We understand that service workers often deal with being understaffed, overwhelmed, and underpaid, and we always try to be patient and understanding. However, in this case, it felt warranted to be frustrated given the clear disregard for us as customers and the attitude we received for asking reasonable questions about our order. It took us 45 minutes to get drinks on the first visit and 55 minutes on the second. On a positive note, the ambiance and the pianist were exceptional, as always. We're hoping to be served by the other waitress next time; she's consistently been more attentive to our needs. Thank you for reading, and sorry for the lengthy review!

What a lounge! Great Martini. Great music. Love the piano player! He is in fire!!!! He's doing the place. The lighting is dark. Decor could be reinvented and more wine flair. Cheese board looked lovely. We were for a drink to the house without a key. You let us in with flip-flops! Yay! But we were lifted. We'd go back for a drink and a cheese board!
