Kahai Street Kitchen - Honolulu

Title: Disappointed and HungryI recently visited Kahai Street Kitchen on September 20th, just before closing, and had an experience that left me less than satisfied. I purchased two plates, eager to indulge in what I hoped would be a delightful meal. While the Garlic Chicken Plate was good, the Soft Shell Fish Taco was a complete disappointment.The fish in the taco was noticeably not fresh and had an overpowering “fishy” taste. The inside of the tacos was excessively “wet”, making the overall texture and flavor highly unappetizing. Both my companion and I attempted to eat it, but we ended up spitting it out after just one bite.I tried to address the issue by calling the restaurant, only to be informed that the manager was “busy”. I left a message, hoping for a prompt response, but no one returned my call that day or the next. This lack of customer service added to my dissatisfaction.In the end, I had no choice but to discard the inedible fish taco plate. My companion and I shared the mini Garlic Chicken Plate, but it wasn’t enough. We were left feeling somewhat hungry, which is not the experience I’m looking for when I choose to order out instead of cooking myself.In conclusion, my experience at Kahai Street Kitchen was far from ideal. The quality of the food was inconsistent, and the lack of responsiveness from the management was frustrating. I hope others have a better experience, but I, for one, will be thinking twice before returning.

I wanted to try for a while... finally! Food was delicious, reasonable price. Couldn 't decide what to order so tried today 's special pork chop I was happy all day after that ?I 'll be back!

If you're looking for local style plate lunch that tastes great and affordable, you should come to Kahai kitchen! There's so many options available especially if you are a meat eater. They also have cheaper and smaller lunch options called university mini plates for students.When you arrive you will make an order at their window (drinks are limited) and if you are dining in you can choose whether you want to eat at the outdoor picnic table or air conditioned tables inside. I had their fish tacos and homemade French fries. They were such a highlight of my day.Parking is limited, because there is barely any street parking nearby and I'm sure it's very popular during lunch hours.Vegetarian options: Minimal options for vegetarians. Almost everything has meat but I'm sure you can make a special dietary request to remove things

We are a 2nd time here this week and super great steak again. Awesome fast really tasty with affordable reasonable prices. Easy takeout abd outside seating available... very friendly service! We will come again!

Monday special was Moniko chicken. And it was amazing. Reminded me of tangsuyuk (Korean-Chinese sweet and sour chicken). Comes with rice (brown/white/hapa) and potato mac salad. Original and filling lunch!
