Update to my last review:Well I really like the quality of food here. Don 't get me wrong, JoJo 's has good food. I really want to make that clear. However, I have to be truthful with this review. The wait times are outrageously long now a days. My last order (a sandwich and fries) was literally a 45 minute wait. I 've tried to phone order a few times and its either just rung or its been answered and the guy who answered placed me on hold and never came back to my call. The phone line remained busy for hours. When I walked in and informed him that I was the person he left on hold and that he could hang it up to untie the phone line, he said okay and hung it up. This was after being on hold for an hour and 23 minutes. If im being absolutely honest I probably wont be eating here anymore. Mainly because the wait times are just too long. It would be convenient if I could get a phone order in, but they either never answer or leave you on hold indefinitely. If there were additional cooks (which I know, defeats the purpose of JoJo being the cook) or at least someone else who can help to streamline things, maybe things would run smoothly. JoJo 's Kitchen could potentially be making sooooo much more money. That lady can really make awesome food.
Been seeing this place mentioned and bookmarked. Our office buys lunch daily for us and we're always looking for new places to try. We called in our order the day before so I suppose it's like a catering order for 9 people. The order was ready to pick up on time, no issues except one salad they forgot the chicken. But the Greek salad I had was good size and tasty. I'd definitely get it again.
Always looking for new places to eat on my lunch break in downtown, so when I saw the menu for this place, I had to try : I called my order in at about 11:45 and they said it would be ready in 15 20 minutes. I arrived around 12:15 and my order was ready : TRUFFLE STEAK SANDWICH: I love ciabatta bread sandwiches so I ordered it. The steak was nice and flavorful and pretty tender but there were some gristly parts that were hard to chew. The truffle flavor was very light, but the sandwich as a whole was balanced well in flavors slight creaminess of aioli, umami from the truffle oil, slight peppery taste from arugula, and good flavor from the mushrooms and onions. Ciabatta bread was perfect with the sandwich. Fries were pretty good $3 up charge MANGO SMOOTHIE: at first when I tried the smoothie the mango flavor wasn't very prominent, but the flavor and creaminess grew on me and it wasn't overly sweet.. so refreshing! Price was a little over $8 for the smoothie though, which I thought was pretty steep.Despite some tough steak pieces, I enjoyed my lunch and can't wait to come back to try other things on the menu :
I keep telling myself that I need to write a review of one of my favorite places and in time, my photos I've posted awhile ago may not be tied into my review. This is like a hidden gem unless you know about Jo Jo's Kitchen through others who worked near by.Since My place of work is now farther away from downtown, i would drive than walk here, but may not go as often as I would like. Parking in downtown is higher with the rate of twenty-five cent per 5 minutes!! I would suggest to pre-order, so your order will be ready when you pick up or have someone be your food runner. A couple of times my friend had it delivered (not offered at this time , but most of the times she would pick up for me and I would pick up my order from her work place.I wasn't much of a steak sandwich person before until I tried her truffle steak sandwich! Amazing! My work friend would tell me the weekly specials and when she offer to pick up lunch from here, I'm all in. The sandwich's bread sometimes can be on ciabatta bread or a hoagie with grilled onions, truffle oil, shaved cheese, garlic aioli, mushrooms! The pastrami sandwich was also full of pastrami and everything I've tried from the menu or the specials were amazing! So much flavor and ingredients to make the sandwich incredible! You can tell she loves cooking and it show In her foods! Her food has been excellent, since it's just her, the chef, cooking with her helper in front! I've tried some of the seasonal menu items like the baby back ribs with collard greens with bacon and jalapeño corn bread! The Turkey meal too was so worth it. Others I tried was the chicken picatta, Korean bbq beef wrap, steak salad one of my favorite beef stew!! Yum!Jo Jo's Kitchen is only opened during the weekday lunch hours and also do catering. Always double check the days and hours opened since at this current time, it is close on Tuesdays! I would highly recommend this place and my friends would agree with me.Thanks for reading my review!
