We started with a classic tarte flambé paper thin crust, perfectly cooked. My husband then had a burger Alsatian style, which he liked. I had potato ‘cakes’ with house smoked salmon. Plentiful and fresh. Served with a cole slaw type salad. Good selection of local wines, also by small (375 ml) bottle. Can recommend!
We stayed in the marina of Niderviller twice on our canal boating trip and on both the outward journey and return journey we ate here, the second time because the first experience merited a return trip! A member of the restaurant team collected us and returned us to the marina. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance, the friendly service and the excellent food. A lovely experience.
Waiting behind a customer at a canal port in Niderviller who was making a booking at a restaurant recommended by the boating company, 4 of us decided to cycle the 3km finding our way along the canal, then through the forest and finally onto to the restaurant nestled near the canal in a charming setting. We were right away impressed by the look of the Auberge, its location and the garden but the food, the service and the decor were all very impressive. We all agreed that all the dishes were excellent, and we enjoyed the great desert medley the lovely waitress giving us extra helpings as we had decided to share. It was one of our best dining experiences in our 14 days canal trip on the Marne to Rhin Canal. Alternatively, a restaurant staff would pick up diners at the port and drop them back if no transports are available. May 2014
