Safeway Liquor - Hollister

ASK AND DOUBLE CHECK I visited on August 28 to buy a whole roasted chicken, but they looked small, so I decided to go with the fried chicken from the deli instead, which was 16 pieces for $17.99. When I got home and opened the bucket, I only found 9 pieces inside. We were celebrating my mom's birthday, and I couldn't go back because she and the rest of the family had already arrived.

This Safeway location is fantastic! The store is clean, the restrooms are well-maintained, and shelves are always stocked. The parking lot is spacious and tidy, and having a gas station on-site is a nice bonus. The only reason I rated it three stars is that the cashier didn’t greet me or say anything—no "hi" or "thank you," not even a "goodbye." While I personally don’t mind, I believe that those interactions are an important part of customer service and the cashier's role.

This is a welcoming small-town market. The store staff is helpful and courteous, making it a pleasant shopping experience. I do most of my grocery shopping here. Recently, they've made some great improvements by adding glass-door refrigerators for cheese, butter, and other dairy products. Additionally, the beer and wine are now also stored in enclosed refrigerators with doors.

Great grocery store overall. Probably the nicest out of the handful we have in town. Wonderful selection. The floral department is one of the best. BUT...my wife bought a couple of pieces of rotisserie chicken from the deli last week and they ended up being totally rotten. I mean fished-out-of-the-trash rotten. Couldn't really smell how bad it was until she put them in the car. Once we got home we found the source of the smell and in the garbage they went.

Well stocked. Best cheesecake ever. (Sorry Mom) No line at checkout. Like everywhere, prices are up a bit.
