Classic Cakes - Holland Park

It smelled amazing but truly old, stale cake is all we got. Ordered pear and raspberry cake and a chocolate brownie. Pear cake was stale and boring and no cream on the side to alleviate. The brownie could barely be cut with a fork it was so hard. Could have been warmed up to disguise but no! Our pot of tea came without a strainer and then strainer came without a dish so I had to plonk it on the table. Pretty disappointing and guess what...no they didn’t ask if we enjoyed it!!!!As we left I noticed that nothing on the aframe sign matched what was in the cabinet. No cupcakes, lemon meringue etc...Guess they spend all their time on made to order but you guessed it I won’t be getting one.One good thing...funny jokes abounded until we were nearly crying about stale hard cakes! Silver lining!

I received excellent service from Mimi, and the fruit cake was top-notch for my mom's 100th and 102nd birthdays. If she's still around, I’ll definitely return for another cake next year.

Magnificent. What a great place to buy a cake. All hand made and baked. Reasonably priced and very beautifully made. The proprietor Mimi is easy to deal with and her staff helpful and polite. Classic cakes is a well known established icon in the area where I live. Highly recommended 10/10 from me. I noticed here only 2 bad reviews from over 5 years ago. Before buying I looked at the bad reviews those reviews have no idea what they were talking about. (1) There is no table service there they sell cakes not serve them at tables. And (2) The other one looks like she complained after SHE messed the cake maker around. This cake maker is the best I 've ever dealt with. Spectacular!!! And I 'm a regular reviewer on Google.
