Ngon is a good place to catch up with your friends whilst enjoying delicious Vietnamese food. The menu had a whole variety of different dishes which is sure to cater for everyone. We tried the shaking beef, roast duck and roasted pork and broccoli fried rice. All of the dishes were very fresh and delicious (the portions were also very generous . I will be back to try the other dishes :
Ngon is a cute little local Vietnamese restaurant in Highett. Though we’re from the other side of the city, the long journey to the bayside was totally worth it!<br/ <br/ The menu is extensive and offers a ton of variety. We tried a number of their most popular dishes, the highlights being:<br/ <br/ Green Prawns a very unique take on a fried prawn! They use some sort of cereal coating which is very crispy and yummy. I love the wasabi mayo dipping sauce!<br/ <br/ Banh Xeo one of my favourite dishes here! The crepe was crispy and thin, and it was filled with heaps of bean sprouts, prawn and pork. It’s served with a plate of lettuce and herbs to wrap, and a delightful sweet dipping sauce. So refreshing and delicious!<br/ <br/ Pork Hock this was crispy skin to the max! The skin was so thick, crispy and crackling, whilst the inside meat was still so tender and juicy. Again served with lettuce to wrap which helps to cut through the fat. It’s so good, but so filling too so make sure you have a few people to share! <br/ <br/ Whole Baby Snapper another one of my personal favourites. I loved the crispy skin on the snapper, coated in the delightful sauce. There was plenty of fish meat, and it’s even served with lettuce and vermicelli to wrap too. Delicious!<br/ <br/ We also had an Ice Lychee and Vietnamese Ice Coffee to drink, both fo which were very refreshing. I loved how strong the coffee was.<br/ <br/ Thank you so much for having us!
The menu is extensive, featuring many classics alongside some unique options. We kicked off our meal with some delectable wasabi-crusted prawns and beef wrapped in betel leaves. Both appetizers were outstanding; the prawns had a wonderful kick of spice, while the beef was tender and full of flavor. For our main courses, we selected the roasted duck platter, sticky salmon, and a refreshing Vietnamese salad. The duck was abundant and beautifully presented, boasting crispy golden skin and fantastic dipping sauces. The meat was succulent and juicy, and we thoroughly enjoyed the platter. The salmon was cooked to perfection, its sticky sauce bursting with flavor that made it hard to resist. The Vietnamese-style coleslaw, featuring plenty of green mango, was a delightful accompaniment. The dressing was both sweet and sharp, perfectly balancing the richness of our main dishes. Eager not to miss out on dessert, we decided to share the Vietnamese coffee crème caramel. What a delightful treat it was! The creamy custard paired wonderfully with the coffee-flavored sauce, and we relished every spoonful. Surrounding us was the cheerful buzz of diners enjoying their meals. Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff remained attentive and friendly, underscoring the evident care that goes into this establishment. With its lovely atmosphere and exceptional food, Ngon Vietnamese is one of those family-run restaurants that will keep you coming back for more. We definitely plan to return!
Ngon is a lovely Vietnamese restaurant located in Highett. The menu is extensive ranging from traditional Vietnamese cuisine to broader Asian dishes.<br/ <br/ Visiting for a weekend lunch we ordered the soft shell crab papaya salad, satay pork spare ribs, shaking beef, green prawns and coffee creme caramel to eat along with a Vietnamese iced coffee and ice lychee to drink. <br/ <br/ The soft shell crab papaya salad came out beautifully presented topped with plenty of soft shell crab. The salad was light and refreshing and worked beautifully with the crispy crab.<br/ <br/ The shaking beef featuring wok tossed eye fillet in black pepper sauce served on a a sizzling hot plate was superb. The beef was cooked to perfection and worked beautifully with the black pepper sauce and veggies.<br/ <br/ The green prawns were beautiful. Coated in puffed rice they were nice and crispy on the outside and went well with the accompanying wasabi mayo.<br/ <br/ Although not as pretty as the other dishes we ordered, the satay pork spare ribs were another well cooked tasty dish. Found under the small bites section of the menu, this was another generously portioned dish.<br/ <br/ The coffee creme caramel was the perfect way to end our meal. It was melt in your mouth good and I loved that it wasn’t overly sweet. <br/ <br/ Overall I had a great experience at Ngon and I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area. I rate Ngon our of 5. Thanks very much for having me.
