The Old Hall Inn - High Peak

Lovely food, very nice roast and lamb Wellington. Nice atmosphere but a bit cold sat near the door. The door closed slowly after people entered and people dont actually shut it.

First class Sunday lunch in lovely traditional pub\restaurant complete with wood burning stove. Thoroughly recommended.

I wanted to eat in a restaurant where noise was not excessive (i.e. You can hear each other when in conversation) because the evening and meal was for a family reunion and birthday celebration. And I wanted us to eat a nice meal in a restaurant with a nice ambience. The Old Hall Inn met all these requirements.

Excellent menu choices but even on a weekday evening the restaurant was busy and the kitchen and service under pressure Food generally excellent. Slight tendency to adopt ludicrous hipster affectations, serving food in silly wire baskets chips/ whitebait).

Although we've lived in the area (Marple) for many years, we are sorry to say this was our first visit to the Old Hall- and certainly won't be our last. We took a chance, on recommendations, and brought our friends here to celebrate a birthday. It was fantastic- we were warmly welcomed, drinks were quickly provided, and the food was superb. Our friends- who have tried Sunday lunches everywhere said it was the best they've had for ages. Thank you.
