Overpriced with subpar food quality. Loud and unpleasant atmosphere. Very disappointed, had higher expectations.
Quiet welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Great range of traditional pub fare and Asian specialties thanks to the chef. I had the Thai green curry with prawns that had real flavour and heat - top notch. We were also asked to taste some local wines. Great evening and the staff were always on hand to help. Great night
I was travelling through by myself at the end of an 7 hr drive. The locals were so friendly and the publician Sue Ellen sat with me and we talks for hours. I'd happily aim to travel back just to visit the Heywood Hotel again because of the wonderful friendly atmosphere. I stayed in a single room The cheapest room I have ever paid for, neat tidy with a share bathroom. I was the only guest on a Friday night. Not a noise outside in the town after I went to bed. The chinese born chef talked to me the next morning and told me about his life. What an interesting gentleman. A superb chef also loved his meal the night before. I could have happily packed him up in my suitcase and taken him home also!!!! I would happily give this Hotel and chef a 6 star if possible.
Pies and pasties very good as they do not have too much salt in them. The pastries are to "die for", eclairs, matchsticks, vanilla slices etc etc. Maureen60
