Fritto Misto - Hermosa Beach

My mom’s bottom line for reviewing a restaurant is: “is this meal better than what I could make at home?” Unfortunately for Fritto Misto, the answer is no. This place had been recommended to us by a few friends, so we popped in for a casual meal. We left disappointed. Everyone raves about the bread, but ours wasn’t great. It was served with ice cold pats of butter we were never offered olive oil. We started with the Caesar salad, which was fine. It felt like store bought dressing and croutons with Parmesan from the green can meh. I made my own pasta with the arrabiata sauce, and husband had the goat cheese fettuccine. They were both…. Fine? Nothing knocked our socks off. I felt like I could have made the same meal with jarred sauce from the grocery store and some cut up veggies and sausage. We both left agreeing we don’t need to go here again. There are lots of great Italian places in the South Bay: Pitfire MB , love salt mb , Jame Enoteca El Segundo to name a few. No reason to go here when those options are head and shoulders above.

Impressed by the service and food, we will be back! You can sit inside or outside or get takeout. Delicious gluten free options!

Our neighborhood go to the food is super delicious and the namesake Fritto Misto is spectacular! Our faves: Fritto Misto, Pasta Pancetta, Pillows, Spaghettini Alfredo for kids , Bolognese also for kids Service is always warm and friendly; we never have to wait long for our food, whether we dine in or take out. Recommend dining Al fresco and soaking in the beautiful weather.

Very tasty authentic Italian food. We were charging our tesla and stopped here and boy did we get lucky. The bread was superb and the dishes were overall very good.

Fritto Misto is serving up affordable Italian food on the main drag in Hermosa Beach. We were promptly seated on a Thursday evening and they were kind enough to oblige when my friend's kid asked for the largest booth in the front of the restaurant for just the 3 of us as it was pretty empty inside. Our server was pleasant but he did bring us the check without us asking when we still wanted dessert, and the salads took quite a while to come out with mine coming out 5 minutes before my friend's. The menu is large and you can do everything from creating your own pasta to ordering one of their specialty pastas and they have a section with plenty of vegetarian specialties. I started with the Caesar Salad. I'm not a fan of grated parmesan on my Caesar and especially at an Italian restaurant I would expect some nice shaved parm, but the lettuce was crisp and the dressing was good. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Ravioli which comes in a garlic cream sauce with cajun seared chicken. I enjoyed the ravioli but the sauce was very oily and the chicken was quite overcooked to the point of almost being hard. The complimentary bread was top notch.
