El Ranchito - Hermann

I'm always exploring new Mexican restaurants, both in my hometown and while traveling. I have to say that El Ranchito serves some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! I've visited several times now, and every dish I've tried has been absolutely delicious.

We started with the cheese dip, which unfortunately was incredibly runny and seemed to be diluted with milk—it never thickened up at all. For our main course, we ordered beef fajitas, and they were surprisingly bland and unpleasant. The beans were smothered with a very thin layer of cheese that didn’t add much to the dish. Overall, this place was quite disappointing. I strongly recommend the owner take a trip to Mexican restaurants in St. Charles to see how it’s done properly.

The food is amazing, the staff is friendly, and there's no TV or excessive noise—such a refreshing atmosphere!

What a disappointment. I had read two glowing reviews about this restaurant and was excited to visit. We went on Saturday, the 22nd of 2009. I have a skater kid, and he couldn't understand the menu, which was not presented well. We encountered problems with the security staff as well. As for the food, it was subpar. We ordered beef slices, and they were bland and had an unpleasant taste. The portions were incredibly thin, about 1/32 of an inch. Overall, this place requires some serious improvements. It feels like a complete miss.
