The pub belongs to the man and the wife of nicola and steve reynolds and had a Michelin star since 2001. they grow their own fruits and sweet and keep their own pigs and chickens. other meat types come from local herefordshire farms and suppliers and credenhill chicks regularly on the menu. fisch is extracted from cornwall with the exception of locally grown trouts. the menu has a seasonal thema so it changes all two months.
Excellent service from start to finish. Our two dogs were made to feel very welcome. Sunday lunch was excellent very generous sides of steamed veg, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. One of our party was gluten free (told the Inn in advance) and he was well taken care of.
We were staying nearby and booked early tea on Saturday. Quiet when we arrived, starters came quickly, smoked trout pate was ok, my wife liked her figs. V quick also for mains, steak was ok, a bit gristly in places but cooked as ordered. Chicken was declared good. Irish coffee was lukewarm and we waited an age for my wife’s pud but they were charming and eager to please so it’s a 4. The wine was good value. They missed a drink off the bill but we owned up as they deserved it.
Our party was on holiday locally and we were recommended to try the pub out as it was only a short walk away as it was a nice place for food and to enjoy the views. To our surprise the pub was closed! I could understand if this was midweek however this was 1pm on a Saturday!Despite the website stating that they were open 12-3. We weren’t the only ones as another family also turned up claiming they had a booking and they were also turned away! This left us very disappointed and didn’t return during our stay as it was pot luck to whether it would be open.
