Contribuiți la feedbackWe made another visit to this fabulous restaurant last Saturday night with my sister and my business partner and his wife. This place has all the bases covered, with a small but carefully chosen wine list, accommodating staff and a changing selection of dishes executed perfectly by the very talented and charming Caliopi at the helm in the kitchen. It's hard to pick a favourite dish however highlights for me were the Saganaki with black currants, the Cauliflower salad and the Duck breast. Some very creative combinations highlighting Caliopi's skill with combining spices and flavours. The added bonus is being able to watch the kitchen team ply their trade from the open kitchen which adds another dimension to the whole experience. There is seriously good food being served in this restaurant and you should make the 3km journey down the road from Daylesford when visiting this region to enjoy one of the best dining experiences available in the area.
We often visit Hepburn or Daylesford to meet friends for lunch as it's a half way meeting point. I try to use the opportunity to discover new places and did again yesterday. Frank and Connie's Kitchen looked unique and the menu interesting. My husband and I were early so we sat and I had a sparkling water (designated driver - damn!) and my husband a beer. Waitress was friendly, chatty and happy to share the history of the establishment and it's chefs. Friends arrived and we quickly ordered a bottle of local Heathcote Rose' - yes I can have glass! - delicious!! Both couples order the duck tacos - spicy, tasty and with four on a plate great starter to share. Our friends had the barramundi each and my husband and I decided to share the 480 grams steak with potatoes and greens. Steak was delicious , gorgeous bit of meat with a rich gravy/sauce - we ate and enjoyed every mouthful. The fish was eaten with noises of happiness and satisfaction. The guys decided to have another beer so my friend and I shared a dessert , again hit the mark. Local wine selection is well thought out. What's not to love about this place ...... only one thing - 12% surcharge on the weekend - really? Sorry lovely staff, talented chefs and passionate WA owner (who generously shared her grandparents story), this financial hit was a sour note to finish on. Maybe add a dollar or two along the way - you know us customers are a bit gullible- we would swallow that far more easily. Thanks again for a relaxed, totally enjoyable afternoon.
The food was wonderful. Service excellent, friendly and unpretentious. Wine list was great. But the stand out was the pork belly. I can remember the last meal I had that I enjoyed so much. That meal made me a happy happy woman
Frank and Connie's was recommended by the charming shop keeper across the road. It did not disappoint. We had an amazing vegetarian dinner. The saganaki had been spoken about highly but was not on the menu that night. We were so excited that they made it for us anyway when we requested. Home maid pita and dips were delicious, as were the queso sticks and cauliflower salad. We were so happy to have dinner here. Thank you so much!
Had a great Friday lunch at this quirky restaurant. We had lamb ribs and fish with smashed potatoes. Both delightful. With fresh produce the main theme we also devoured the desserts that were delicious. Good range of wines and friendly service makes us want to return.
