The Marchmont Arms - Hemel Hempstead

Everything was great, except for the background music, which was not ideal. It was a bit too loud for a restaurant setting.

The selection and value of the food have declined with the recent menu change. The Moroccan bowl was poorly presented, resembling and tasting like a ready-made meal from Tesco. It's a shame, as this restaurant used to be our go-to dinner spot.

The food and service were both excellent. I highly recommend paying a visit.

Not worth the money they are charging for for the food can get a lot better quality for the money

We've always loved the Marchmont, great building with tons of history but unfortunately let down by standard restaurant etiquette. We were led to our table by the very pleasant maitre'd to a very wet table which when wiped still had a watermark seeped into the wood. The side plates were dirty and the cutlery stained. Having worked in the business for over 30 years I appreciate being busy, but they weren't! The starters were well presented, but the chicken was tasteless and the koftas overcooked. Moving onto the mains, the wagyu burger was overcooked and dry and the crab and lobster tasteless. Overall, disappointing but we will always give it another go.
