Goodwin The Steak House - Helsinki

Solid food, nice ambience, varied pace of service delivered with Finnish stern friendliness. Overall, really liked it. Beware steak cooking temperatures run on the low side even compared to American steakhouses my medium rare ribeye would have been rare at Morton's. Mushroom soup: very good. Green salad: fresh and crispy, non trivial to do in Finland in November. Rib eye: awesome. Filet: awesome. Grilled vegetables: shockingly good. Apple tart: very good. Overall, food quality was very solid. Only downside was I felt a bit shot out of a cannon at the start with the pace, but then it slowed down after the start into a more relaxable nice normal pace. Can't tell if that was them responding to something else, thinking that we Americans like a fast pace or what. Nice location on the port to boot. And they take reservations online, which seems somewhat rare.

The hostess was not welcoming. Our server was much more pleasant and helpful. The food was mediocre at best. Hard to believe this is the best steakhouse in Finland.

Very good Steaks, friendly staff. Prices are ok considering the quality if the food. We can recommend the place with no doubts

Had a wonderful time at this place. We ordered the tuna tartare and herring as starters and they were both large appetizers! Very good too. Enjoyed them both. We shared the beef stroganoff which was to die for! Sauce was delicious. However was surprised that it didn't come with the egg noodle pasta??? But enjoyed it eitherway. Service was pleasant. Nice place for dinner.

Started with a Caesar salad with prawns. Grilled prawns were tasty but the dressing on the salad was bland. Also croutons were of the lower quality like you would find in a cheap grocery store bag. Steaks were cooked perfectly, I will give them that. However, the beef was not aged properly and thus was tasteless and almost seemed watered down. Side of potatoes advertised with cheese contains very little cheese and was also under seasoned. Service was adequate. Not poor but not great either. Overall a poor showing from Goodwin. With so many other options close by in downtown Helsinki, I cannot recommend eating here.
