El Chaparral Mexican Helotes

I received this recommendation from a local in San Antonio, and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender and delicious. The portion size was generous enough to feed two adults, with some leftovers to take home.

I've been coming to this restaurant for six years and haven't written a review until now, but it's one of my favorite Mexican spots. Today, I decided to try something new: the southwest chicken with mole sauce. Our server, Sonia, was excellent and even brought me a small cup to taste the mole sauce. I found the thinly sliced chicken to be very tasty when paired with the mole. As always, the rice and refried beans were great, and the flour tortillas were amazing. And I can't forget to mention the borracho beans served before the meal—they are out of this world! The place was busy on a Friday evening, but our small group was seated in just 20 minutes. I love the atmosphere and highly recommend this location.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The margaritas are fantastic, and the mole is top-notch, which is quite rare to find. My favorite dish is the BJ's Puentes; it's always tender and juicy.
