The Oxtail Factory - Hearne

I think they opened this past February. Shaun, the owner and head cook is from Houston and knows her oxtail! We had a discussion of Houston oxtail eateries and we agreed with her assessments. In Hearne, she IS the queen of oxtails! So flavorful with plenty of rich, brown gravy. Hubby had oxtails and I had fried catfish so glad we decided to come in. I did have to wait a while as hubby scarfed down his oxtail. He was almost done 10 15 mins. later when my fresh from the fryer filets came out. Plenty of seasoning, so no need to add anything. The filets were a good size and thick. The salad wasn't the best and I waited too long to eat the roll was a little tough. No matter, we will definitely return! They have takeout, but do not deliver, unless it's a catered order. If they know well enough in advance, they can provide servers for the catered order. Daily on the steam table, they offer six sides and three, sometimes four mains. It seems that everything is housemade. Their hours are short, so make sure you get there early. Closed Mondays.

Great lunch special with a meat and two sides had spaghetti as the special it was great and so was the spinach and mash potatoes. Do visit you won't be disappointed.

Drove from Cameron to eat here, it was so worth the drive. The inside was impeccable. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The food was AMAZING. If you want a great soul food meal I highly recommend THE OXTAIL FACTORY.

The food was so good! I had chicken and my husband had the roast beef. Both were so good! The roast was thick slices. I loved the sweet potatoes! You can't buy them everywhere. I also had the peach cobbler and it was the best ever! We both left satisfied and stuffed! The ladies dipping the food were fast and efficient. The line of people moved fast. The ladies' room was spacious and clean and well supplied. This is much appreciated when we're on the road. There were tablecloths on the tables that looked so nice. They had a roll of nice paper towels on the tables so I appreciated that because eating fried chicken can get messy! So much better than a little rectangular napkin! I give this restaurant a 5 star! ??

My husband I had the Fried Chicken (over rice n gravy), Spaghetti lunch special, corn, navy beans, mashed potatoes, green beans cornbread..... every bit of it was seasoned well, piping hot AND A-L-L of the staff was very friendly, talkative, helpful!! We will be back!!
