Best fried chicken I've had in the east bay. That isn't saying a lot, but wow the intensity of the crunch and the freshness is unparalleled. While their other entrees and side options are not as robust as similar places, I'm really just here for the chicken. And that is unbeatable.
This location is only take out only. And it's the first location that I've seen there is a meal Special Going on for $12.99 for any time They are open. Good deal. I got 5 honey butter fried wings with crispy fries and coleslaw. Hubby got the cheddar fried chicken wings with kimchee fried rice and coleslaw. It also came with a drink that you pick out of their fridge. What a deal. Usually when I go to Von's they nickel and dime me on $1 more for Wings. $1 more to to get 1/2 Honey butter and 1/2 Cheddar. At this Von's they don't do That. Once we got our Order the wings were hot and crispy and good size. The fries were really crispy too. The coleslaw had no flavor. The kimchee fried rice was a little stuck together but had a nice little spicy kick to It. Also, this Von's does not have a restroom and it's not located in The best part is the town. If you need to use a restroom, go to the 99 cent store.
Newly opened so I am giving you 3 starts or else maybe 1. Why? Here:Use gloves everytime preparing the food. I saw my chickens getting touched by a cashier.
I never post about restaurants. I love the yangnyum and I had not eaten at this Vons. I came in on Saturday 5/13 around 6:30. It was such a disappointment. The chicken was almost nonexistent. Super thin and not big juicy pieces like I have had in Dublin and in Berkeley area. It looked like they had pounded chicken flat with a mallet first. It was a little ridiculous to be honest for a $16 order. There wasn’t a lot of sauce either. Very, very light sauce which is sort of funny considering the name of the dish and definitely not what I am used to with this dish. Sauce it up guys and use bigger chicken! I would give it another shot but I kinda wonder if the poor quality and the wait had anything to do with the awkward tipping moment?I go to pay and at the end of the transaction the cashier spins the register screen. The screen is in Korean. I normally would tip but I am taking it to go A. and B. I just couldn’t read the screen. Usually I just enter a dollar amount with the custom tip button but I couldn’t find it in this case. I couldn’t figure out how to continue and it was getting a little awkward. I had to ask him, “I dont know what this says. what would you like me to do?” They seemed nice. Maybe they will make it right. The photo is of just breading. Very sad plate. My stomach kinda hurt after eating it. Hopefully thats just the breading bubbling. A little burnt and a little concerned.
