La Mexicana - Hayward

Love this place, Burritos are great. Always try to come here when I can. People don't look friendly but when you start talking to them they are very nice.

I have been going here since high school. I love the bean and cheese burritos and go there almost every week for lunch. It's take out only inside the store. The girls that work there are always very nice.

From the old reviews, it seems that this use to be a great market, but I went here a few days ago and it is not worth a visit. I was looking for pan dulce, there was one small cabinet for pan and when I opened the cabinet door to take a closer look I was greated by several small fruit flys. DISGUSTING! It was dark in the store, run down looking and I was the only person there and the employee at the counter didn't even look my way. I didn't buy anything and left. I will not return.

This place has changed!!!! We used to buy our tamales here. I bought some today for a group outing and they were terrible! Extremely dry and the masa had a weird after taste to it! It wouldn't have been so bad if I had bought them just for myself. I would have gotten over it. Sadly, I bought 2 dozen tamales for a group. I felt terrible that I subjected them to this sub-par meal. The only positive was how quickly they were ready. Perhaps I was given yesterday's batch! I won't be back!

I picked up 5 dozen corn tortillas here for under $5. They are made fresh with no preservatives and are very tasty. An amazing deal compared to the price and quality I get at a normal grocery store.
