This long-standing establishment is a fantastic spot to grab large quantities of frozen dumplings to go (I highly recommend the duck dumplings). They also offer a wide variety of Asian pastries and sweets (my personal favorite is the pak tong guo, which is very fresh and soft), along with hot food options for either takeout or dine-in such as dumplings, spring rolls, and bao. The service is prompt and friendly.
Ho's has been around since I first came to Sydney in 1980, the taste is the best one can eat, due to the food itself taste like what in Hong Kong cooking is. will always have something whenever I am in Sydney Chinatown, very reasonable much cheaper than what is being sold and eaten at the most reputable restaurant in Sydney NSW. importantly they are super fresh even though frozen items are great taste items, to be eaten and enjoyed. very nice for house parties dim sim's items excellent for serving to the guest, I do that every time I have a gathering and party.
The dim sims at this restaurant are average, but the BBQ pork glutinous rice pancake is exceptional. Skip the other menu items and go straight for the pancake - its soft texture practically melts in your mouth. The succulent BBQ pork filling has a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. I give this dish 4 out of 5 stars just for the pancake alone.
Located next to the Boon Cafe, I was excited to see a Chinese Dim Sim eatery like Ho's. Although you can not expect that someone will serve you the dim sims like Yum Cha, there are plenty of demands that peoples like to enjoy dim sims at their comfortable homes. Had a browse and appreciated the varieties that they offer. Besides dim sims, there are plenty of Chinese pastries like Lotus Seed Cakes and Red Bean Cakes as well as some cold dishes like shredded salted chicken, spicy chicken and chicken frets. Prices are all reasonable. Needless to say, I brought some back to Brisbane for my family.....
