Contribuiți la feedbackHaworth's an interesting place with lots of little shops places to visit. Most of the eateries have great vegan food. This one was busy has separate menus for vegans with lots of options even more on the specials board. We tried the butternut squash dhal which came with onion bajhis, mint yoghurt, mango pickle flatbread. Afterwards we tried the vegan pancakes with a variety of toppings. Both were large portions very filling. The food quality is excellent very imaginative. Its also good to see teapigs teas rather than the usual boring stuff. Plenty of people were creating art after their meals with without children.
Pleased to find a vegan menu with a number of choices. Service quick, on a busy day, and food was good. I had the butternut squash Dahl (I'd have liked it s bit thicker) with bhajis flatbread all very tasty. Hubby enjoyed the bhaji sandwich. Both enjoyed an oat milk chai latte. We weren't asked about allergies: so I'd make sure you do.
Updated Sept 2024: Cobbles Clay now have huge, separate vegan and gluten-free menus! Tons more options than we’re previously available Wonderful to see and super tasty! Original review: I have visited Cobbles Clay a few times and I’ve never been disappointed! Incredibly helpful staff who were willing to adapt menu items so that I could have a breakfast that was both vegan and gluten free. Excellent coffee too! I’ll definitely be back Updated from previous review on 2019-04-03
Lots of vegan options! Had the vegan Shashuka which was gorgeous!
We were pleasantly surprised and grateful when during an overnight stay in Howarth we saw the vegan menu at Cobbles Clay cafe. Returning the next day for breakfast we experienced additional surprises but not of the grateful kind. The previous day we’d had a few coffee’s sat outside watching the Howarth world go by. The coffee’s were unremarkable save for being tepid and not very flavoursome. The coffee we had with breakfast was different again, hotter and with more flavour. We ordered the Cobbles breakfasts from the vegan menu, surprised not to be asked if we had any allergies. Our coffee’s arrived, latte and americano both with oat milk. My partner quickly realised she’d been given cow’s milk upsetting and potentially dangerous. My partner informed one of the staff members who, without comment, took the coffee away and returned with another. No apology, no explanation, no concern, just a look of annoyance as though we were being a nuisance. Not a good start. One of the kitchen staff came to our table and pointing to the meat menu asked us if we wanted the Cobbles breakfast or the Full Breakfast. We said we’d ordered the Cobbles breakfast and off she went. Feeling a bit confused as there wasn’t a Full Breakfast option on the vegan menu we sought out and asked another member of staff to clarify with the kitchen staff that we’d ordered from the vegan menu. Our vegan breakfasts duly arrived with two “dairy free” stickers attached to the plates. We weren’t asked if we wanted any sauces. Not much to say about the breakfasts other than they were basic and more of an expensive snack than a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day. It’s hard to see why something more substantial couldn’t be offered, especially when compared to the sizes of the meals we saw delivered to other customers. Soon after leaving the cafe my partner realised we’d been overcharged (we have the evidence). I was all for returning to the cafe, but my partner, still upset at the staff’s attitude and being fed cow’s milk, wasn’t. In summary, although we’re grateful that Cobbles Clay offer a vegan specific menu, the negative aspects of our experience far outweighed the menu.
