Contribuiți la feedbackOn our way back from Nova Scotia, we decided to stop at the restaurant for dinner. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean, with generous portions of delicious food.
We arrived at the restaurant around 5 PM with a party of four, including children. We were promptly seated inside and our orders were taken quickly after being served water. The restaurant had a separate kids menu, which was a nice touch. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. The menu was quite diverse for a chain known for smoked meat. While this may attract a wider range of customers in a small town, it also means they may not excel in certain dishes like a specialized restaurant would. I ordered the smoked meat sandwich, a classic item on their menu, which was tasty but not comparable to the ones at Schwartz's in Montreal. My wife had the salmon, which was average. Our companions enjoyed their sandwich choices and fries. The prices were reasonable, the service was efficient, and we left satisfied and ready for our afternoon activities. Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit for decent food, good service, and fair prices, but don't expect a remarkable experience. It's a solid choice for a meal out.
After a full day at the Glengarry Highland Games, a tender, juicy steak and a delicious Caesar salad were the perfect way to end the evening. We came for the games but discovered a hidden gem in the area. Enjoy a pint and steak with your friends to keep the fun going! Don't forget to say hello to Joe while you're there.
Having recently viewed some disparaging reviews on this restaurant, I feel compelled to provide another review (my on this establishment. I do not claim to be a restaurant critic but given my background, I believe my comments have some credible merit. In my youth...I worked in, and managed a modest restaurant in Montreal years). My son-in-law (ex) owned restaurants in Belgium and in Luxembourg. His L’Appuntamento restaurant in Luxembourg is extremely successful. I have travelled and DINED in over countries in N. America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, South Pacific and Australasia during my years as an international telecommunications tariffs manager at Teleglobe Canada. My wife and I have lived in this area over years and we eat out a minimum of times a week. We have eaten at every restaurant in the Hawkesbury area. For the last years we will only eat at Dunn’s due to the ambiance, excellent rapport with owner and staff, quality of food (unmatched in the area), consistency of preparation, cleanliness, affordability (prices mostly match all other family restaurants in Hawkesbury). This restaurant is worthy of a stars on Tripadvisor. I refer you to my review from and herewith provide some further photos of the incredibly unmatched food choices at Dunn’s.
And i meet the owner when they just opened and he was impolite to me and my employees. That kind of rudeness doesn’t deserve more then the one lunch with a really high price
