Contribuiți la feedbackCurrently, they only serve dinner on Thursday and Friday nights, but they're open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday. We started with the Chicken Satay pot stickers, and honestly, I could have eaten three or four orders of these and left completely satisfied. The Thai peanut chicken flavor elicited some “wow” moments from both my wife and me. If you enjoy Thai peanut flavors, you absolutely have to try these. Mic drop. Next, we shared their house salad topped with a papaya dressing and candied macadamia nuts. Another “wow” moment—it was that good! I ordered the fresh Ono prepared Thai coconut style, served with sour cream mashed potatoes and broccoli. Once again, it was an explosion of flavor, building on the deliciousness of the pot stickers but with a coconut twist. It was perfect and offered a refreshing variation from the other Ono dishes we had on the Big Island. My wife had a ribeye, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, accompanied by the same mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was seasoned just right with a red wine demi-glace. By the way, those mashed potatoes were outstanding—like a perfectly baked potato loaded with sour cream and butter. They rank among the top two or three restaurant mashed potatoes we’ve ever had, and we were in total agreement on that. The broccoli was cooked to tenderness without being mushy, striking a perfect balance that most places struggle with. Simply flawless! They also offer dessert bites for $2.00 each, and we ended up getting four. Our favorites were the lillikoi cheesecake and the mocha cheesecake, though everything we tried was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing to a perfect final dinner of our vacation. I can't praise this restaurant enough. If you're in Waikoloa, the scenic drive here is absolutely worth it! Great job!
This is my favorite restaurant to visit when I'm in Hawaii. On Sunday, a delightful Senior Citizen Hawaiian dance group performed two dances, which was such a joy to watch. I've been trying to upload the video but haven't been able to figure it out. The service was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. As always, the food was absolutely delicious.
We found parking in a dirt lot along the road and walked to The Bamboo. I was quite excited. The restaurant itself was like a charming oasis, adorned with cool tropical decor reminiscent of days gone by. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive (5 stars). However, the food was quite disappointing. Perhaps we just happened to visit on an off day. **BANANA SMOOTHIE (5 stars):** $9.00 - This was easily the best smoothie we've ever tasted. It featured fresh fruit instead of syrup, and the generous serving came in a tall glass. My son declared it the best he’s ever had. **CALAMARI STRIPS (4 stars):** $17.00 - The calamari pieces were nice and lightly breaded, served with two different sauces. I believe the menu listed the price at $15.95, but I was charged for the extra sauce when I requested it. Although I wasn't expecting the charge, both sauces turned out to be delicious. **THAI COCONUT STIR FRY (2 stars):** $19.50 - This tofu stir fry was supposed to include sticky rice, but instead, we received plain white rice that was a bit crusty on the outside, as if it had dried out or been sitting around for a while. The dish was overly sweet without any savory notes, tasting almost exclusively of coconut milk with sugar. It reminded me of a time years ago when I had to add salt to my food at Tuk Tuk Thai Food Truck’s pad Thai because it lacked flavor. The same applied here. The vegetables consisted mainly of bok choy and some carrots; I expected a more varied selection. On the bright side, the tofu chunks were generously sized. **CHEDDAR BURGER (2 stars):** $19.50 - The fries were greasy and soggy, although thankfully just a small portion. According to my son, the beef tasted old and microwaved. The coleslaw was alarmingly sweet, lacking any salt, which didn’t sit well with him. He enjoys sweet flavors but still couldn’t eat it after a taste. I tried it too and understood his concern; I’m used to coleslaw with a balance of mayo, salt, vinegar, and a touch of sugar, not one that’s essentially sugar mixed with mayo. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed with the food, but I absolutely loved the ambiance, atmosphere, and service. The total bill came to $83.70, including tip, tax, and a $2.68 fee for using a credit card instead of cash.
I'm really glad we chose this place for lunch; it was delightful! I had the Kailua pork sandwich, and the meat was incredibly flavorful and tender. The service was friendly as well. I would definitely recommend this spot! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20
