I had deep fried mac and cheese bites with bacon mayo (yum), hake in beer batter with huge crunchy chips (I would have preferred the fish with the skin taken off but that's just personal preference), and my favourite bit was the rice pudding brulee with blackberry compote the best dessert I've had for ages. We had a bottle of french rosé wine which was really good too.
What a lovely welcoming pub. The chef had changed recently and we wanted to try it. The food was amazing! I had fish and chips the fish (as all ingredients I was told) was bought that day and was beautifully white and soft. Best triple cooked chips ever! My grown up daughter had the salmon with a crab croquette which we all tried and agreed this was the star of the show and my husband who had eaten earlier in the day had the charcuterie board which was filled to the brim! I had the chocolate marquis with cream for pudding which was excellent and my daughter and husband had cheese and biscuits which wasn’t on the menu but the waitress managed to rustle up for us. Chatted to some lovely people whilst there and overall a good night
The restaurant was very welcoming, the food was excellent, and the staff was happy to help. The only thing I wished for was more Parmesan cheese because it was so good.
I/we were left very disappointed with the food we ordered. When ordering I specifically told the waitress how I wanted my food cooked. As we were both having the same thing and when it arrived we could not tell which one was which, the waitress delivering the food did not know either! I asked to speak to the waitress that had taken my order and asked which was which. She said they were both the same as she had not put my request in with the order!!! I was gobsmacked. As I was there with my friend and we have not seen each other in ages I did not want to tarnish the evening by complaining so ate what I deemed was a horrible and expensive meal as it was not how I wanted it at all. It was dry and tasteless for me!!! Service left a lot to be desired as all of a sudden our table was emptied of everything and it was our cue to leave. All very blunt and abrupt. We will not be going back to this establishment again. This was the second time I have eaten there, the first was just as bad as we were sat in a room with people who swore all night long, so based on these two experiences I would much prefer to spend my hard earned money elsewhere.
Quirky pub with no car park and too busy to park on street. We had to park a good way away. Food disappointing- my chargrilled vegetables consisted of over cooked aubergine and raw courgette, no colour or flavour. Desserts uninspiring. The beer garden and play area were ok,so would go back with kids for a drink, but not to eat. The waitress was a superstar- very helpful with a friendly smile. She made our visit.
