Dear Sirs, I would like to share my experience at Joia restaurant in New Jersey, where we always make it a point to have lunch when we are in the region. Primarily, I want to emphasize the exceptional service provided by waiter Cristiano, who is always very professional, attentive, and impeccable. The quality of the kitchen is also outstanding, with high-level chefs consistently delivering excellent dishes. Over time, we have had numerous family gatherings at Joia and have always been treated with courtesy, consideration, and above all, respect. However, I regret to report a recent incident that deeply displeased us. On our most recent visit, we were greeted by a new waiter when we requested a table near the window, as is our custom. Although the restaurant was practically empty, with only three occupied tables, the waiter asked us to move to a smaller two-seat table. We expressed our concern as we typically order large dishes, and a smaller table would be uncomfortable, especially considering the establishment has an average of thirty to forty tables and other available options. If it were full, we would have gladly accommodated ourselves at the bar for lunch. It appears that the waiter was following instructions from a manager who lacked preparation and competence. Unfortunately, the manager intervened rudely, impolitely, and unprofessionally, addressing us with indignation and disrespect. His attitude was entirely unwarranted. We considered leaving immediately, but waiter Cristiano, with his usual courtesy and promptness, convinced us to stay. Out of consideration for his request, we decided to proceed with lunch. However, I would like to emphasize the need to replace the manager, as his extreme lack of education, rudeness, and incompetence for the position were evident. In fact, we were not even aware that he held such a position. It is clear that the mere functionality of the pictures on the wall and the plant pots is more relevant than his work as a manager. This was our first encounter with him, and his conduct was unfortunate and completely unprofessional. This incident caused alarm among both customers and employees, and regrettably, we have decided that this will be our last visit to the restaurant. I strongly suggest replacing the manager with someone who genuinely deserves such a position and is capable of offering customers a service based on quality and respect. This individual clearly lacks an understanding of what it means to be a manager. The treatment we received does not align with the professionalism we have always encountered from waiter Cristiano and other employees, nor does it reflect the undeniable talent of the chefs. Fortunately, we were not accompanied by family and friends on this occasion. Experiencing such a situation in their presence would have been extremely embarrassing, especially considering that we have always praised the restaurant. I also want to inform you that I intend to share this event with my friends who frequent Joia to ensure they do not encounter a similar situation. Additionally, I will share my dissatisfaction on social media, where I mentioned the restaurant, in order to prevent others from experiencing such embarrassment. In any case, I would like to express my gratitude, especially to waiter Cristiano, who is an excellent and highly qualified employee, as well as to the entire Joia team. They do not deserve to be represented by a manager who is intellectually and professionally limited.
