I had planned to grab a coffee to go before heading to Harrison Lake. Unfortunately, when I tried to enter and order a coffee, I was informed that I could not bring my stroller inside. The young lady working at the counter was quite rude in her tone and simply repeated that strollers were not allowed. When I asked for the reason behind this rule, she mentioned that the cafe was too crowded with strollers. This was surprising to me as it was after the peak season and there were only a few other customers present. I was only looking to grab a quick coffee to go, not to sit and dine in. I would have been in and out in less than 2 minutes. I couldn't leave my children unattended outside, nor was it practical for me to hold my small child while also carrying a hot coffee. I feel completely discriminated against and will not be returning to this establishment. They have lost my business for good.
We were so happy with the service here! we stopped in the near closing time and ordered a lemon and a grapefruit ice cream. they are homemade and delicious! the owner knows what she does. I'm pretty sure that she's on her own...so the caffe must be closed when she needs a break when they see the 'back in ten minutes' sign, they come back; it is worth it!
We stopped a sandwich. service was good. the food was under the average. $10.75 for a spasm sandwich. we had a burger for $15.75 the patty was not handmade, speck almost invisible cold bungalow. not good. very disappointed .
As a disclaimer--I will rarely focus on a bad treatment, but to warn others, if customers are treated like an inconvenience, I will let others know about the experience. after a walk at the seaside we decided to take a coffee to warm up. it was 4:15 o'clock and given the condition of the world in these days we thought we would wash our hands before we broke in to enjoy something with (try them a snack with the coffee we said that the washroom was closed - a sign that the washroom was only named for customers - we ordered our coffee and then asked for the washroom. we said that the washroom was closed because the place would soon be closed. the closing time was 5pm-45 minutes when we entered. we were directed to the public washrooms at the lake. I can understand this treatment when we got in at 4:45. or the washrooms without using customers, but also not the case, instead we made ourselves feel like we interrupted someone who wanted to go home early. I'm fine if a business owner wants to close early - that's her right, but if her sign says open, then they should be willing to provide professional and friendly service to those who are willing to offer their paragliding. as a side-the coffee was mediocre, but that could only be because we went in the last hour of the day and got what was brewed earlier on the day - a risk they run, I assume as customer access to a business on a slow day,
I often ride my motorcycle out to Harrison Hot Springs and the Green Star Cafe is my stop for coffee. I often enjoy a soup and sandwich as well. My favourite sandwich is a toasted chicken salad sandwich with a bowl of homemade soup. I...always receive friendly good service from the staff. They offer homemade fudge and ice cream cones are available.
