My daughter ordered pasta with alfredo sauce. It was spaghetti with the same cheese sauce they use on their tacos (queso). We know this because my wife ordered the tacos and made a direct comparison. The pasta did not get eaten. Suffice it to say, the tacos didn 't either. My son 's burger was mostly eaten because teens will generally try to eat anything in front of them. However, finishing it was a bridge too far. When I approached the manager, she seemed indifferent. she never made any effort to fix our food or compensate us for the misery. We paid our bill because we are not thieves, but it should be a crime so serve such inedible fare. When we asked our server what she thought of their food, she said she had never tried it. I wish I hadn 't either. So, why not one star? The beer. The beer was good. The food is not.
This place is definitely not celiac friendly. The cheese sauce used on the nachos and fries has beer mixed into it. I'm glad I asked before I ordered. However I decided to order a cheeseburger and fries, without the bun on the burger. The burger came without cheese and as I took a bite of one of the fries, I immediately began to have a reaction and knew that they were not gluten-free. I finally just requested a salad. Unfortunately I still have to deal with being sick tonight. They also made multiple mistakes with my other family member's dinners. One of my family members requested no corn on her salad, but received corn. My other family member received the wrong dressing. Our waitress was very nice and apologized for everything, however those were 100% the kitchens fault because the waitress wrote everything down in detail.
Great place to visit with a relaxing atmosphere. The food and drinks are great and the severs are delightful. Would happily eat here again.
They should arguably be the best restaurant in town, but alas it was a let-down. They have everything going for them... the namesake of the greatest American author, they brew their own beer, perfect location close to downtown, and huge dining hall with a large u-shaped bar, and a great patio on the ground level and on the rooftop. But the food was pretty meh and the tables weren't even cleaned. We ordered burgers and fries all around and not one of us--even the kids--liked them. The burgers were small, flavorless, and completely overcooked. A big letdown because the beers were really good! They have flights so you can sample as many as you can handle and I recommend ordering a wide variety. The only problem with that, it you'll get really hungry and want to order their not-so-good food. So you're in a pickle there. I hope they get better, revamp their menu, and clean the tables. Because we'll be back for another city festival and I'm rooting for this place.
Stopped mid afternoon. I bet it's more fun when outside is open busy. Hubby said his Kolsch beer was fine I had a soda. We ordered portobello mushrooms. They were tasty. I had a side salad with my chicken club. Salad was great and club was okay. The bun couldn't support the insides. I wish I had asked for bbq sauce to be on the side so maybe it wouldn't have been so soggy. The meat was flavorful tender. Hubby's dry rub wings were different a good different. We'd probably stop back...
