WASS Ethiopian Restaurant - Hamilton

It usually starts with the very friendly people who own and run the restaurant, then the food. It is completely different from anything North Americans are used to, but absolutely wonderful. The flavours of the Doro Wat, with all of the berbere spices, the different types of lentils, vegetables and salad, to the wonderful Shiro Wat. Just be careful that it isn't too hot! All eaten with injera- the flatbread that is so different from anything else.A must try place for anyone looking for something new.

This was my first time going since they got the gluten free injera bread. It was fantastic! I highly recommend doing a platter that comes with the veggie assortment (plus a meat.) It's the best because every bite has new flavours. They charge $6.00 extra for the gluten free bread; this is quite normal for restaurants to charge, however it is usually only $2-3.00 extra. I would definitely recommend visiting Wass!

This is my third visit to the Wass Restaurant. Loved it in the past 2 visits and love it still. Our hostess was very friendly, efficient and definitely helpful to answer questions by my guests. Loved the variety of the menu and the overall experience was great. Now the food. Love it, love it. love it. The combo platter is really too much for 2 people, but you have to try it. It gives enough of many flavours to satisfy any curiosity you may have about Ethiopian food, Don't miss any opportunity to visit the Wass for a great experience. Try the coffee to end the meal.

My aunt and I come here from time to time to share a veggie platter and shiro wat for two. The food is always very fresh and the woman who works there is always friendly and accommodating. The price is very reasonable as well. The shiro wat, a spicy chickpea dip is a must at this place. Love that there are lots of vegan options.It's also a very unique eating experience as you eat with your hands and share your food with whomever you're with. Great cultural experience as well.

I love the spices and love the variety. Be sure to warn whoever will be joining you about eating with your hands: the servers will take care of your hygiene, don't worry. The most delicious and filling meal I've had in a long time! Exceptional value.
