The Village Restaurant - Hamilton

Came here tonight to celebrate a double birthday with the in lawsNothing beats a small local restaurant with good home cooking.

I was part of a party of 17 We had reservations for 6pm There was another party in our seating area that supposedly refused to leave.

Have been to this restaurant twice now and both time it has been great. Large portions and delicious. Will be back.

Very disappointed as I was with a group and told their liver was excellent. I tasted a burnt taste looked at the bottom of the liver and it was charcoal black. How could it leave the kitchen like that? Is there no quality control ? I didn't eat it all and didn't say anything because of the party I was with. Very obviously burnt.

I was going to write 2 reviews but will combine them. We went in for a late lunch mid week, the restaurants rush was well over. The food as always in the place was great. That said, the service was sub par at best. The waitress very friendly but non existent. No drink refills or water refills. We saw her when order was placed and time for the bill. The other waitress did three times the work and approached us more than our own. We went there for fathers day breakfast as many others no reservations. We got to the Village early and they found us a spot for a no show. The waitress was great. Promptly took our order food was great as always but again ignored. Yes we know it was busy but no coffee refills or juice refills or water. She had a few tables she had a focus on and it was obvious she knew them and thats why they got so much attention. She had the pot of coffee in her hands and walked right past. The food in here is consistent and service was good in the past however the last 4-5 visits it has deteriorated. maybe there was a reason we waited 4 months since our last visit to come back. All that said I would recommend this restaurant. I hope they get their customer service act together.
