Best home fries in town, eggs over easy are always perfect, toast is properly toasted and buttered, bacon isn't under/overcooked and coffee's good. Yum.
I'm going to be fair here and explain the positive and negative of my experience. The service was friendly, and the place itself looks great. It's like a classic West Side NYC type of place. 10/10 for atmosphere and welcoming attitude. Problem is, the food/cooking quality was just not there. Asked for sausages to be butterflied and well done, and they came butterfly cooked for 3 seconds. They were plump/white and just barely past the mark of being undercooked. No evidence of any browning. I would have asked for it fixed, but the waitress was extremely busy and never came to check on us. I took a bite anyway, and they just weren't good quality at all. Finally, at the end of the meal, waiting for our bill, we gave up and had to walk up to the counter to ask if/how we can pay. Again, we experienced kind friendly service, but just seemed disorganized. Other cooking quality problems were egg shells in our eggs, and the bacon was just of a poor stringy cut. Not good crispy bacon strips you get at other places. That said, it's a nice enough little place, but we won't be back due to the food quality.
I love this restaurant! I've made it a tradition to pay it a visit each time I'm in Hamilton, and it's such a great way to spend the morning hours. The staff are so kind, the food is exactly what you'd want, and the atmosphere is impeccable. It feels like I'm walking into a small relic of the 60's each time I visit. I can't wait to revisit this place again!
FYI:Benedict peameal bacon is not available under the option recommendations tab (or I would highly recommend it).____________________________________Probably one of the best breakfasts in my life. The portioning was a little low for home fries especially if I'm paying over $16 for a breakfast plate with tip. However, The Benedict (peameal bacon) was perfect, juicy and flavourful, but the home fries were a bit on the harder side (if you like them that way or) ask them to cook a bit longer if you want them softer to chew. The service was really good. I haven't had a server on top of her game like this one in a long time. She asked if I wanted coffee right away and I sat there for less than 2 minutes before I was served. The place was also busy and the server was accurate, fast and had a wonderful demeanor that kept conversation to a minimal while busing and waiting, it really was a great experience and deserves more recognition (new servers take note or shadow this lady if you have the ability to). The waitress deserves more than a 20% tip for her charm and service if she waits tables like this every time and I spend around $30 with tipping the kitchen and waitress over 20%.It was hard to find, it's on a very busy steet. I walked past it twice and quick, and you'll have to park off a side street to walk over or get dropped off at front in the winter time especially if you're a senior. This place is the definition of a hidden gem breakfast spot, highly recommended, impeccable service.
