Restaurant Schoppenhauer - Hamburg

Wonderful fresh fish. The Hamburger Pan Lachsfilet with mustard sauce. My spouse had the Scholer (flounder) with cucumber salad. Both with perfect fried potatoes. As it is a perfect summer night we sat outside in back and thoroughly enjoyed this place! Our waiter was great and was quite fluent in English. Highly recommend!

We went there on a sunday. Not many guests, however, we waited TWO HOURS to get our food. Only one waiter and one cook. The service was just terrible, and so was the food! We were the only non-germans there and it was clear that the germans were getting better service than us. Not great service either, but better. The waiter went pass us several times and just ignored us. When we finally got to order, they were our of several dishes on the menu. One thing that made the two hours of waiting even worse, was that they were playing the same song over and over again. Just that one song. The food was just terrible. Tasted of absolutely nothing. It was way to exoensive compared to quality. We will never visit again and will cannot remommend this place to anyone!

Located on one of oldest streets of Hamburg - the place is a real time machine to the past centuries and great cuisine traditions of Germany. We're driven inside by the fantastic smell of the grilling pig... and inside we saw the waiter in a medieval costume with a medieval guitar! It's a top place, if you want to have some true German food with historical service

We were here with a group of some 15 people, having a three course menu suited for meat and fish eaters as well as vegetarians. The welcome was warm and we had the bread, water and butter on the table ready, got swiftly served with drinks, and waited for the starter. The waiting time was rather long, but I think that was on purpose because we were chatting so much. Everything got served simultaneously and the meals were well cooked. The choice of beers and wines was diverse and the quality very good. Added to that the helpful assistance, always with a smile no matter what was asked for, we considered it all a place with a heart.

Popped-in on Sunday afternoon while wandering around. Nice food and very friendly staff member (just the one present)
