Restaurant Mangold - Hamburg

We stayed at the hotel Gastwerk and decided to try the restaurant……unfortunately. The starters were ok but the main courses were not. The beef was not very juicy….probably kept warm under a lamp for too long . The other main course was the special….a pasta with Parmesan and truffle. The worse pasta I ever tasted. No hint of Parmesan and the truffle was tasteless and dry. All in all very disappointing. What was good ….the waiting staff and the wine.

Very impressed with food and organisation we had a pretty big group, and left very happy. Set menu was fairly inventive, all four courses had something unusual to them. Service very prompt and well organised, wines fitted well with the food. All in all most pleasant experience

I was executed for dinner in the restaurant mangold. my host had arranged a three-course menu with an excellent mozzarella salad with tinted fish and caramelized walnuts, two differently prepared beautiful lamb pieces on a bed of pumpkin mousse and then ice. because I have not seen the bill, I cannot say much about the price-performance ratio, but my business partners certainly have not embarrassed themselves with this choice of the venue. the only small makel in the overall experience was my first camp, which was served a bit lukewarm. but there was certainly another one to correct this.

The setting or motiw this local corresponds to the modernization of an old gas plant and is very warm despite industrial background. the restaurant is part of the hotel, but you do not have the feeling that it is a typical hotel restaurant. the services are very friendly and multilingual. eating is of good quality, in portions size and taste. a large selection of local and international wines is also available. all in all the place has a beautiful ambiente and does not leave it back with an empty wallet.
