The Mercantile Social - Halifax

Really cool vibe with amazing interior decorations but... 1. Gets quite noisy during the evening. Bad acoustics? 2. Ordered a Mohito which is good if you like it VERY strong with lots of alcohol, but bad if you like it tasty and minty. Not sure if I would want to go back but worth experiencing once?

Had a lovely meal at the Mercantile Social. They are certainly a ?cocktail spot? do go to but also have delicious food to back that up.

I went this evening for a meal for a girlfriends birthday. I ordered the Seafood Linguine. I was unfortunately really disappointed. The mussels were undercooked and slimy (didn’t eat them at all out of concern of making me sick). The other seafood in the dish (scallops and prawn) were over cooked and the pasta was dry. The appetizers and desserts were good. I’m unsure tho if I’ll be back for main courses again

I went here last night for dinner, and my expectations were not only met but exceeded. The atmosphere is lovely, inside or out on their patio which had to be one of the best patios I have ever seen.The food was just as impressive, I found the portions to be generous and the menu had plenty of options especially with varying price ranges. Their dessert is some of the best I ever had, and I see myself going back just for a drink and some of their tiramisu often!However, most my astonishment goes toward sthe amazing service. The host, Rohan (if that is spelt correct) was really kind and acommadating to my preferences, I also saw him assisting his peers throughout the two hours I was there. My server Emily was super friendly and made some great recommendations for someone who can be a little picky, and she checked in consistently without being overwhelming. The gentleman Malcolm/Malcom who I assume is a busser was also extremely attentative and a delight to speak to.I recommend this spot to anyone, be it for the bar or dining experience, the Mercantile one of my Halifax favourites!

Food was okay, but overpriced for what it is. The drinks are overpriced for a more casual spot $10 for a 16 Oz pour while nicer restaurants charge $8 for the same. Value wise cannot recommend (two people, 2 cocktails, appetizer and one main each $180). Beautiful decor. Beautiful food presentation, but lacking in flavour. 3.5/5
