My friend and I went to the Blooming Café for lunch. She had read the previous reviews and was looking forward to an abover average experience. We wanted to save our appetites for dessert, so she ordered the French Onion soup, and I had the tossed salad. She said the soup was good, but a bit sweet (?). My salad was average, but the dressing was homemade, and very good. For dessert, we had the bread pudding, again very sweet, and the caramel cheesecake, which was delicious. Now for the problem. We hadn't seen each other for a year, so were looking forward to catching up Half way through our meal, a man who worked there (cook?) interrupted our conversation and continued to do so off and on for the duration of our visit together. We tried to ignore him, but he kept doing it. I don't think we will be going back there any time soon. In fairness, I have in the past, gone there on my own, and found the food to be homemade, but average. The dessert however, has been very good.
The Bloomin Café "Martin House" Catering available. Lunch specials everyday, brunch served allday. Licensed patio for summer Barbecues. Baking is all homemade. great prices.
We had Canadian Thanksgiving at this very quaint cafe. Atmosphere is quiet, with some soft music in the background. The service was excellent and the food was home made. Great menu with large fresh portions with great prices. Free parking and has a take out menu as well. Will definitely visit this establishment again and again. This was our first time and certainly will not be our last. Would highly recommend this gem to anyone. Very clean and comfortable They also have an outside patio for summer months. A homey place with friendly owners who earnestly invite you to return. This is definitely a hidden gem
Have eaten at this establishment many times , and every time was a total joy. The first time was for a birthday brunch and then I was hooked. Fresh , great portions, and it really is homemade. They have a patio now that the put in last year and Saturday BBQ's which I hope they have again this year. It is probably the best kept secret in Halifax.
