There are not many places to eat in little cobalt and this was the only open when we needed lunch. Fashion, but with a great local art on the wall and table tops we were enchanted. Then the food is simple, but freshly prepared and... very cheap. Don't go past the inconvenient outside you'll miss a contract. The owner/cook was very friendly and helpful and explains the art happy.
I love it, I work in cobalt part of the time, I love getting a hot fresh lunch, the chicken fingers squirting from the frit with a side of poutine. Staff are very friendly, they will never get angry when I'm late to pick up an order, and it's a cozy environment. There is a beautiful mural of cobalt that I believe painted in the 80s and it is well preserved and displayed to have only a great place in the city. P.S., if you get the burger, go for the cheese and the bacon.
I've never been to Silver Cafe Confectionary. I went there with my friend who had never been there. I ordered the chicken fingers and pommes and my friend ordered a burger and pommes. We had both water to drink. The lady who served us was kind. She brought me extra ketchup when I asked. My food was good. The place was clean. If you're hungry in Cobalt, try it.
We arrived in Cobalt on a Wednesday at lunch time in late August in search of a place to eat. We discovered that there is only one open restaurant in Cobalt, and this was it. We wandered in and the place goes quiet and everyone...looks at us recognizing that we are not locals and apparently all of them were. The interior of the restaurant is very basic, with a decent amount of tables and I enjoyed the laminated historic photo that was on our table. The menu is pretty basic as well and my partner chose to go with the fish and chips. My partner was actually impressed with the fish that was a better quality than expected. Top points for the fresh cut french fries which we both enjoyed very much. I chose to go with the Silver Cafe Omelette with rye toast, and was grateful that when the waitress asked, the cook was able to still make it this late in the day. I thought the omelette had a substantial amount of vegetables in it and was pleased with how it was done. This is a small town cafe, the husband and wife who run it speak both English and French fluently, and both took the time to speak with us and were very friendly. They only serve breakfast and lunch, and there is lots of on street parking. If you are in town I can confidently say that this is the best place in town.
