During my visit to see my daughter, I once again asked her to take me to 'Frantsila Kehäkukka,' located about 35km outside of Tampere. As before, I enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the herb garden and later indulged in a delicious vegetarian lunch at the self-service restaurant. Housed in a charming school building from 1875, the restaurant exudes traditional charm. Adjacent to the restaurant is a shop selling organic products from the Frantsila Herb Farm. On this visit, I purchased the 'Terva-Pihka Salva' (Pine Tar Salve) for the third time, which I find helpful in combatting cracks in my hands during cold weather. I learned that the herb farm was established in 1981 by a Finnish-French couple, prompting me to wonder if the name 'Frantsila' has ties to France, despite the country being referred to as 'Ranska' in Finnish. The use of the letter 'F' in Finnish is typically reserved for words of foreign origin. 'Kehäkukka,' on the other hand, is the Finnish name for the flower 'Marigold,' which can be spotted in the garden along with descriptive labels, albeit only in Finnish.
The food at this restaurant is excellent, including the salads, breads, and desserts. The flavors are very tasty and enjoyable. The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, and they even allow dogs!
Place was crowded, but we found a tablet easily. Vegan buffet was so tasty. They filled the buffet table all the time, so there was enough food for all. The food was really good and well-flavored. There were a lot of customers, but the seat was found. Buffett’s food adequacy was very important. Great environment. The garden. a little dry, but it was a dry summer.
Visited for lunch. Buffet lunch at 10-15.00 costs 10.80 e including nice (non-alcoholic) drinks, homemade bread, dessert and coffee in a great old house by a lake. Maybe the most tasteful veggie meals I've had. I am not a veggie fan myself but I like to eat here, although I tend to eat too much in this place. They also sell herb products and the herbal infusion they offer at lunch was especially good too. A very popular place during lunchtime. Located right by the road 3.
