Really very tasty gyros! However, a plate is now £14, and it's not the size it used to be I don't think. I realise prices go up, but all the same it's quit e a change I think. We came a few times in lockdown to help support our local favourties and the portions have got smaller since then. Even my very average eating 10 year old could polish one off with ease. Also, there's quite a small amount of tatziki on the plate, maybe a tablespoon, not nearly enough for the amount of meat and bread. It also came with about 1/4 of a tomato, sliced. When we asked for a spoonful more tatziki we we offered to purchase a pot for a price. At £45 for one adult and two kids, for effectively a small kebab and chips, squeeezed on to a small table in a cold draught, I don't think it's too much to let us have a spoonful more as an inclusion in the meal. There are several local posh turkish and lebanese restaurants that would charge around £15 for a two skewer plate of chicken or lamb, lots of salad and unlimited bread, in a smart setting with waiter service. And that's pure meat cubes, this is gyros. Come on chaps, I think your prices are a bit too high, and you're being a bit stingey now! There was another couple/yound family squeezed up next to us, who also mentioned how the sizes seem to have reduced and prices raised. The food earns 5 stars, but I have to give only 3 stars overall, sorry. Be a bit more generous next time someone asks for a little more tatziki.
I had pork yeeros pita wrap who was very delicious. This is definitely a place you can have a tasty snack in reasonable prices.
Tried it out. Ordered a chicken kebab thing and a veggie wrap. I was foolishly expecting something freshly cooked. Three mins he said. My expectations were reduced at this. The chicken emerged from some greasy pot next to the burner to be re heated. Ditto for the chips. Just being kept warm in a tray on said burner. Took said slops back to the car. Me and the wife took one look at it and decided against two servings of botulism and cracked the whole lot in the nearest bin. Go to Nuro kebab for a proper bit of this sort of grub. I guess this is ok if your 18 and plastered.
I've been a satisfied customer for many years as it used to be one of the best value for money takeaways in Guildford. However, the past few years they’ve engaged in huge price hikes. E.g., for a pita yeeros the price prior to 2018 used to be below £4. In 2018, the price for the same item was £4.20. Then until today, the price has gone from £4.20, to £4.50, to £4.60, to £5, and now to £6. This is a 43% price increase in 4 years! Another example is the portion. From less than £8.50 to £12.50! This is annual change of around 10%. Similar price increases for most of their products. On top of the price hikes, the terrible thing for me is that size of the pita wraps has actually decreased! I was so disappointed to see that the pita wrap was significantly smaller to what it used to be. Smaller pita and less ingredients. I really felt deceived as a customer! This is NOT a way to run a successful and viable business. The massive price hikes the smaller portions cannot be explained by increases in cost of products, rent, or anything else that they once told me when I asked them. It is purely because the owners think they can make more money by increasing the prices and cutting down on size, instead of increasing their sales. Similar takeaways in town have NOT increased their annual prices by 10% nor have they decreased the size of their portions! Actually, some of them have kept the same prices since 2018! It was great as long as it lasted but all good things come to an end.
