Swiss Chalet - Guelph

Our waitress was fantastic! She was literally darting between tables and the hostess station to seat newcomers and serve waiting guests. She quickly apologized to everyone, explaining that she was the only one on duty but would be back to take orders as soon as possible. It was heartening to see that everyone was kind to her, saying they were in no hurry. Once our orders were taken, the food arrived promptly. We had the Quarter Chicken dinner and the Hot Chicken Sandwich. However, the gravy and chicken in the Hot Chicken Sandwich were not hot at all; the sauce was barely warm. That said, it was still a delicious sandwich. We used one of their $10 coupons we received before the holidays. Our waitress kindly informed us that we were a few dollars short of the $40 minimum to use it. We happily added a slice of pie to meet the requirement. Since this location is close to our home, we will definitely return. However, it would be great if management could consider bringing in extra staff during unexpected busy times. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, largely thanks to our waitress's cheerful demeanor, positive attitude, and ability to handle the dinner rush with grace.

I enjoyed a wonderful rotisserie chicken dinner with outstanding service. I do wish the sauce were a bit thinner like it used to be, but the flavor remains fantastic, so I'm still quite satisfied.

We visited as a group of five and were quite let down by the service. The staff didn't check on us at all, and it took over 20 minutes just to get our drinks and refills. Our food took more than an hour to arrive. Additionally, the restaurant was quite chilly, which made the experience even less enjoyable. Most of us who ordered chicken found it to be extremely dry, particularly the white meat, which was almost impossible to swallow. The buns were so stale that even our child refused to eat them, and that's really saying something! The whipped cream on the donuts was sparse and had a freezer-burnt taste. We're very disappointed, especially since this location is usually reliable in Guelph.

This restaurant was poorly managed. There were not enough waitstaff to meet the needs of the customers. We waited over half an hour for a waitress to come to our table, 45 minutes for drinks, and more than an hour for our dinner. Usually, we can enjoy a meal at Swiss Chalet in about an hour, but our visit took two hours! Our waitress seemed clearly overwhelmed, hurriedly delivering bills, food, and drinks. While two young women worked extremely hard, one older woman appeared to be doing very little. On a positive note, the food was excellent!

Years later, walking into Swiss Chalet feels like reuniting with an old friend. The familiar scents and flavors transport me back to those hopeful, determined days. It's more than just the chicken or the sauce; it symbolizes the dreams, resilience, and treasured moments of my youth. Swiss Chalet remains a representation of those beloved times in my heart.
