La Vecchia Cucina - GUALDO CATTANEO

This restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is hearty and delicious, but prepared with a educated hand. Every ingredient was fresh and the preparation was inspired. Our antipasto was diverse and very tasty. Cheeses, meats, olives, bruschetta, grilled vegetables. It was a festival of flavor! The pasta dish melted in our mouths and the steak with barolo sauce brought tears of joy to my eyes. Giovanni, the owner, is like your favorite cousin, so friendly and genuine. A meal here is a beautiful memory forever.

We 've been living in the area for 10 years. And have tried all the restaurants nearby. This is our go to favorite not only because of the food but also because the family that own and run it are so welcoming and enjoyable to chat with. They take a true interest in making sure we and our guests are ordering the right food and wine. They are very knowledgeable about both and special orders are possible. A wonderful outdoor terrace in summer and fireplace in winter. Highly recommended for either casual lunches or relaxed dinners.

It doesn't get any better than this. Gianni and his son Elia really make a difference. Talk about Garden Fresh! Vera is the chef and she introduced us to a Bimbi a computer aid to great cooking. We returned to the states and immediately bought one.

We had dinner at La Vecchia Cucina at the end of our holiday and it was by far the best meal we had during our stay in Umbria. Our host and his father were charming and attentive. We were served authentic Umbrian dishes which were delicious and the local wine was also very good. Highly recommended.

We always enjoy coming here, both for lunch and dinner. We enjoy the fresh ingredients, some from own garden, the friendly service and the always true flavours that shine in every dish. The wines are carefully selected, and complement the meals very well.
