Contribuiți la feedbackLocated in a secluded area, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit for its impressive selection of homemade pies. The staff is friendly and welcoming, often engaging in conversations with customers and even recognizing regulars by name. With such a diverse menu, you'll likely need to make multiple trips to try all the enticing options available.
I have visited this restaurant numerous times and always enjoyed the delicious pies and great value. The view of Mt Wellington is stunning and the location is peaceful. It is dog-friendly, with dogs allowed on leads at the tables on the grass. However, my most recent visit was disappointing. They were not serving meals, and the pies came without any salad or vegetables, which was unusual. The reason given was that they were wasting too much food. This sad approach has lost me as a customer. Other cafes in the area do not have this issue, or at least they do not make it known to their customers. This is not a good way to ensure that customers who make the effort to visit will want to return.
The pies at this restaurant are absolutely delicious. It is located a bit off the highway, 2km down a bumpy dirt road, but the journey is worth it. The scallop pies are the best I've had in Tasmania, filled with plenty of scallops in a mild, creamy sauce, and wrapped in a flaky pastry. By 1.30pm on a Saturday, some of the many pie varieties were already sold out, so it's better not to wait too long to visit. They offer all the traditional flavors, as well as unique options like cauliflower, chicken and Camembert, lamb's fry and bacon, and more. There are also sweet pie options available. The restaurant has a pleasant outdoor seating area next to the orchards. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit!
Friendly efficient service and delicious food, just as well we booked as it was full. It was noisy with a concrete floor but well worth a visit.
We took a group of senior citizens here for lunch and everyone was very happy with their meal. Can I make two suggestions: 1. Please ask the customer if they want their scones heated or NOT! My were served hot, and I couldnt eat them as the cream would have melted so had to take them home (minus the jam and cream that I had paid for). 2. have more varieties of cold drinks available......full strength coke, lemonade, water and fruit juice were the ony options for cold drinks that I could see in the fridge.
