Contribuiți la feedbackThis entry from the Himmerod abbey unfortunately reduces the abbey to the monastery's restaurant, but I would like to report briefly what is still the really great restaurant. First but to the monastery restaurant and there I can say nothing other than: immaculate, great, tasty and stunning! Please check out the menus that you can access through the Abtei websites and pay attention to the different issues, there are so many of them, there could be a smooth dizziness. I've fed groups here and yes, you can't just call it eating. The offers are so diverse, you can hardly decide. I like to remember the Himmeroder Klostereintopf with Klosterbrot and Siedewurst, who constantly changes, there were lentil stew with me and because I love lentils... The stew has already hit a slightly warmed stomach, because at the entrance we found the delicious convent bread and lard, so you can pick up a good taste and write the first wishes on its imaginary shopping list: convent bread and lard. Since I am a real soup food, instead of a main dish of meat, fish or vegetarian, I chose the defensive goulash soup and that was then also right with the associated convent bread. I saved the many desserts for dessert, but I can tell you that my fellow fighters mentioned everything commendable and the eaten main dishes have tasted them very well. In terms of quantity there was the highest indication: something less would have been enough. So you can't... The monastery restaurant is rightly proud of the regional delicacies from its own production, including herbs and salads from its own convent garden. Here you can also celebrate and pamper, a wedding in the abbey of Himmerod is definitely a very good start for the common way of life. Quote: All wines, liqueurs, mustard, honey, fish, whether fresh or smoked, the delicious convent bread, etc. can be bought in the monastery house. Not only do you take something “special” home – you help preserve this historic and “special” place of rest. Quote. But now to the abbey itself: the Cistercian abbey Himmerod and its magnificent Baroque church are unique cultural goods and were an important and central place of ecclesiastical and cultural life in its history over 800 years. Himmerod Monastery is a subsidiary of the Cistercian monks of Clairvaux and the first foundation of St. Bernhard on German soil. In the green wrinkles on the flowing water of the Salm, Bernhard von Clairvaux sent his spiritual sons, the gray Cistercian monks of Clairvaux in 1135. He was convinced of the ideal location of the valley basin between Kunowald, Salm and gentle hills. The first name of the abbey Claustrum means island, hort, protection and protection. In a few years the monks made the monastery an important spiritual center of the Eifel. Today the monastery houses 10 monks working in many areas. Your work in pastoral care, guest work, art and culture, crafts, horticulture and as an employer is important for the whole region. Regarding an extract from the abbey website. The monastic life of the abbey always includes guests and so this internationally renowned meeting place offers a year-round cultural program and all this is wonderfully complemented by the other facilities: the already mentioned Klostergaststätte Klosterladen Buch und Kunsthandel online Klosterladen Alte Mühle (Museum Fishing Klosterbäckerei und Café) A home is offered in the guest wing of the abbey and in the guest and retreat house. Individual guests, couples or groups of all ages are welcome here and can experience some days of calming, decommissioning, time scale, contemplation and relaxation or memory. You can also enjoy, explore and emigrate the magnificent Eifel landscape, take part in the prayer times of the municipality. How easy to see: The Himmerod Abtei is so much more than a starting point for hungry and thirsty tourists or hikers! Supplement from 20th 10th 2014: On the website of the monastery restaurant I have just seen the autumn map 2014 and added the photos as JPEG.
