Karla and her hubby Mark stopped by the table to say Hi and even made me a pot of coffee and took some to go. Great breakfast menu as well. Stopping in my way back to grab an Omelet. ;
Atmosphere very nice, I absolutely love locally owned restaurants and especially diners and cafes. If you you do too, than you will like the feel of Karla's. Service above average. Our server was attentive and pleasant. The only shortfall was our ability to locate her when we needed our check. Food average. It may well be that I ordered the wrong meal. We were there around the lunch hour on a Sunday. The emphasis, in terms of specials of the day, related to dinner entrees. However, the menu offered some breakfast items and I was in the mood for an omelette. I ordered a western omelette with american cheese. The egg portion of the omelette was extremely thin (similar to a Denny's Restaurant omelette), which was disappointing. Also, the meat was dry and the only cheese included with the omelette was a shredded mixed cheese that was spread on top. Value average. The prices are extremely reasonable and I am sure that, had I ordered one of the specials, I would have been much happier with my experience.
We stopped for lunch while driving from Missouri to Ohio and couldn't bear the thought of fast food. The parking lot was packed, but once inside, there were still plenty of seats. The inside is one big room with rows of tables, very much like we see at restaurants in small towns. Our server was quick to arrive and bring our drinks. There were a half dozen specials, which were mostly dinners, but we were looking for lunch. I ordered the turkey Reuben and it came with fries. The server came back shortly and stated they were out of thousand island dressing. I chose to order it anyway. Our food arrived very hot, which I love. The turkey was real turkey, not deli meat, and I am guessing it was some different kind of sauerkraut, because it tasted way different than another other turkey Reuben I have had. It was just ok. The fries were plentiful, more like steak fries. Good, but nothing memorable. Overall, decent food for a decent price.
Restaurant in a church with one waitress and like 40 people. Nobody there to greet us as we walked in, give us menus or drinks, or take our order. If you're from out of town you don't need to put up with this bullshizz.
Driving through for the holidays. This is a perfect local restaurant that is family owned/operated. Food was awesome. Atmosphere is family oriented where people are not afraid to talk the people next to you. America needs more places like this to not only reinvest in their communities but also to help build communities. Support your local businesses that actually care about their customers
