Contribuiți la feedbackWe visited Balingup over the weekend and found that this restaurant was our only dinner option. When we placed our order, the staff seemed a bit surprised and some items were not available on the menu. However, I must say that the food we received was absolutely delicious! I ordered the sirloin with peppercorn sauce (highly recommended) and my partner had the lamb (which was very tasty). The arancini on the menu were also surprisingly authentic and we were very pleased. The selection of beers was good and we left feeling satisfied. The only issue we encountered was that we dined in a room where five children were playing a game, making for a loud and disruptive evening as it was unclear who they belonged to.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review as I do not like to write negative reviews. Unfortunately, my recent dining experience was quite disappointing. Despite a few gluten-free options, I decided on the lamb dish based on a previous positive experience. However, upon arriving at the restaurant, I learned that they were sold out of the lamb. I opted for the gluten-free fried snapper with a garden salad and beer-battered fries instead. Unfortunately, there was a long wait for the food and when it finally arrived, my fish was dry and the French fries were served instead of the salad. The waitress was apologetic and attempted to rectify the situation by offering a replacement salad, which I declined. I inquired about a possible discount or compensation for the mix-up, but the waitress never returned with an answer. Sadly, this experience has left me no desire to return to this restaurant in the future.
Dinner at the Shamrock is an experience no one visiting the region should miss an historic, no frills country pub that serves a standard of food you would find in a very good city restaurant but at much more affordable prices and with the most...genuine and friendliest service. We were disappointed that the owners whom we understand are both chefs were away on holiday when we visited and so only the pub menu was available. We need not have worried. We started by sharing the pulled pork tacos, two of them which were a meal in themselves with a generous filling of tasty pork and salad. Then I had the best lamb shank I have ever eaten, a big shank with melt in the mouth lamb served with mashed potato and baby carrots in a gravy or sauce that was so good we spooned up what was left. My wife had the Guinness beef and mushroom pie served in an enamel pie dish with a beautiful glazed puff pastry top that was crisp enough to east on its own. This was simply an amazing dining experience, with all the atmosphere of a country pub including the open fire. Not surprisingly, bookings are essential for Friday and Saturday dinner. We look forward to returning for another great meal when we are next in the area.
We were at the Shamrock today for lunch. Great venue, friendly staff lovely food! To our surprise, although they take group bookings, they don’t open til 2.00pm though…
Passed this venue on our way to the caravan farm stay we were heading for , as we were late setting up we headed back to this Hotel. What a great decision that was , we were seated in one of the small dinning rooms...which there were a few ,ours had a fire . We were advised to order at the bar section which we did with a reasonable wine selection bottled and draft beer available. Our choice of food were the Lamb shank and beef and Guinness pie , also swapped salad and chips for veg . The meals arrived quickly and were presented well , both meals were of good size and quality. We will visit this venue again when in the area we reckon it’s worth the drive if not close . Keep up the great work to all concerned at the Shamrock hotel .
