El Sarape - Green Bay

I have been dining at this restaurant since my son Connor was 2 years old, which was eight years ago. The food is always delicious and I especially enjoy the free chips and pico served when you arrive - they are better than any other place in the area. Usually, you have to pay for chips and salsa at other restaurants, so this is a great perk. My go-to dishes are the regular steak burrito, which I adore, and the chicken fajitas. I highly recommend trying the El Sarape margarita - it's amazing. You're welcome in advance, you'll love it.

The waitstaff were unfriendly, the food was overcooked and lacked flavor. It seemed like the staff did not speak English, as they never interacted with us. Only one server spoke to us, while the others just dropped off our food without saying a word.

To this day, El Sarape is the most authentic Mexican restaurant I have experienced in the US. I must admit, I wish the hot dishes were actually spicy, but the flavors still reminded me of Mexico. The restaurant had Mexican music playing the whole time, and I even enjoyed a glass of horchata, although it was a bit too sweet for me. Adding some water helped balance out the sweetness.

Although the beans are not made with lard, do they literally put sour cream in their guacamole???? Who's doing this?

Just be tired of rice. They use chicken broth in rice! The vegan options they have are fresh and delicious. Great salsa and staff!
