GV Hotel - Greater Shepparton

I dined here recently with two friends. They were very peckish and I just ordered some steamed veggies. When the meals arrived they were very generously sizes - as both my friends had ordered soup and a main and they all arrived together, we had to juggle plates as we struggled to fit them all on the table at the same time. They seemed satisfied with their choices. As someone who is watching my weight at the moment, steamed veggies were really the only option for me - everything else is what I would describe as traditional pub fare where the focus is on taste rather than health.

Usually one of my favourite places to eat. Risotto was garbage, pork belly wasn't pork belly, steak was ok but veggies were ordinary as was the table service. Couldn't be more disappointed really.

Decided to give the GV a try for lunch. Hadn’t been there for a while and understood new owners had taken over the place.We went Friday lunchtime and should have seen the signs and left. There were 17 diners in a place that could easily fit 150 or more.Before going we had looked at the lunch pre order menu on the website to give us an idea of what we would have. Disappointingly the menu is apparently out of date. Settled for the chicken parma and the calamari. Note you have to choose between chips or salad. If you want both you have to pay more. I mean, who does that?The calamari looked the same as that which you would buy frozen from the supermarket and had 7 thumb size pieces (a small thumb at that). The chicken parma was a good size but was luke warm. Seriously?? I just ordered it!The menu is very unimaginative and is nothing more than just simple pub fare.There’s the reason there were only 17 diners in the GV.

After being told to try the Gv hotel as its menu has changed we decided to give it a go and were suprised by the great value and fantastic quality meals, Highly recommend

Dined on a Thursday and was exceptionally quiet.Good selection of beers at very reasonable prices. Often the price of boutique beers can be a rort.Service was excellent (maybe because so quiet) but all staff were very friendly. One of the bar staff even let me try several wines before selecting the chosen one.Meals were excellent and the chicken schnitzel was probably the juiciest and tastiest one I have tried. The pork ribeye was also excellent.Would definitely return.
